JUDI, HOW SURPRISED WERE YOU TO FIND OUT “BONNIE” WOULD BE RETURNING TO SALEM?

Judi: It was kind of funny because some of the crew members were like “Oh, Bonnie’s coming back”. And I’m like Really? Awesome. So I went to Albert Alaar, our executive producer, and I said I hear Bonnie’s coming back and he said yes and I said well, that’s awesome. Who’s playing her? And he said you. And I said, Oh, great! I had no idea so it was pretty cool.

WAS IT CONFUSING PLAYING BOTH CHARACTERS IN ONE DAY’S SHOOT?

Judi: No, because they split them up. Most of the time, one was in the morning and one was in the afternoon. So you could totally change and focus and refocus but they are such different characters. There was no confusing them. The harder part was Bonnie pretending to be Adrienne; so that was a little fun.

Lucas: I loved the scene in the hotel room. That was like my favorite one. Just because I was watching whenever ya’ll were filming it. And this just looks hilarious. They looked like they were having a good time in there.

LUCAS, HOW HAS IT BEEN PLAYING THE CHARACTER OF “TRIPP” WHO IS SO TIED TO THE SUPERCOUPLE OF STEVE AND KAYLA?

Lucas: Amazing and very stressful sometimes. Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans do such a great job that it’s like I kind of had to jump in running. And so you really have to keep your wheels turning. But they took me under their wing immediately. That was really cool. They really just expressed, hey, don’t worry about it. Just go with the flow. Be yourself. Whatever you’re doing, just keep going with it. And I’m like okay. Plus the first day I was there, Stephen was like, hey, you know, you want to go straight to tape with this? And I’m like sure. Is that what you do? And he’s like yeah, you know the lines right? And I’m like yeah. So let’s do this. And we did it. And actually that was kind of nice. They threw me in the deep end without even thinking about it.

Judi: You’re so talented. Not everybody could do that. You’re a really solid actor and person. Where are you from originally?

Lucas: Texas. 80 miles north of Dallas. I grew up near the border of Oklahoma in Texas. Like 25 minutes from Oklahoma. Don’t hold that against me though. We’re not Okies; we’re Texans.

LUCAS, DO YOU PREFER PLAYING TRIPP WITH AN EDGE; OR MORE AS A NICE GUY?

Lucas: I think he’s always going to have an edge on him because he’s lived his life and kind of had the rug pulled out from underneath him multiple times. So he has trust issues. I describe him as a good kid with bad tendencies. I love being this good kid now. I like the road that we’re taking now because he’s becoming more mature, more of an adult, using more reason instead of being a sad and depressed kid all of the time. And he’s really seeing the world in a different way. That’s what I really like to play him as. That’s always a lot of fun.

JUDI, IT SEEMS ADRIENNE IS NOW BACK WITH JUSTIN AGAIN? WHAT DOES ADRIENNE SEE IN JUSTIN AS OPPOSED TO WHAT SHE SEES IN LUCAS?

Judi: There’s so much history with Justin. There’s a great love there but there’s always that element of is there always going to be that one hundred percent trust. Where with Lucas there was always one hundred percent trust. And then it’s just two different relationships. Lucas was in some ways a lot more fun loving where Justin is the ultimate romantic man. So they’re very different. And there was never any mistrust between Lucas and Adrienne. It was always very solid but there’s the great love story of Justin and Adrienne. You never know where that’s going to go.

LUCAS, WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT PLAYING THE CHARACTER OF TRIPP?

Lucas: I just like him as a character. Like I was saying earlier, I like that he’s a good kid with bad tendencies. He very much mimics not fully me in real life but a lot of me in my life. So that’s why I think it’s so much fun to play him because I kind of am playing myself in a way. And I just add even more of a bad person.

JUDI, WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT PLAYING THE CHARACTER OF ADRIENNE?

Judi: Her heart. Her love of her family. Nothing can tear her away from her family. And she always puts her family first. Always. I love that. She’s a great character. Great ethics.
