BILL, TELL US ABOUT YOUR AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL FILM — WORLD BY THE TAIL: THE BILL HAYES STORY

Bill:  You can see it free online if you go to billhayesmovie.com. It’s wonderful. They did a great job! 80 minutes of a documentary of me.

Susan:  And lots of music. I’m very proud of it. Our grandson produced it because he adores his grandfather…

Bill:  Which is mutual

Susan:  He has been successful in life and had the money to do it.

Bill:  Our producer and director, Lee Levin, put it together.

Susan:  It took about 4 years.

Bill:  Yes, and they did a great job! It has my parents and brothers and children in it as well as a lot of close friends.

AND MORE EXCITING NEWS.  YOU WERE ON THE JIMMY FALLON SHOW A FEW MONTHS AGO?

Bill:  That was quite an experience. Susan and I were in New York with our grandson; and we went to see the Jimmy Fallon show. They went through the whole show. Near the end, he was about to introduce Sheryl Crow; and her amplifier quit working. So they stopped the taping; and Jimmy Fallon went out into the audience and was talking to the people.

Susan:  Just schmoozing with the audience. Filling the time.

Bill:  “Hi, where are you from?” And so on and so on…

Susan:  Australia. It’s always Australia!

Bill:  And then he got up to the back row where we were. And our grandson got up and said…

Susan:  “This is my grandfather, Bill Hayes. He recorded ‘The Ballad of Davy Crockett’ and has the gold record for it. He was also on ‘Your Show of Shows’. He’s been on ‘The Tonight Show’ three times in history; whereupon Jimmy Fallon said “Really?” And Billy said “Yes.” And Susan said “Oh, My God!” So Jimmy said Billy had to close the circle. He led Billy out of the back row where we had been stuffed and down this long flight of stairs. And I’m looking at Billy and saying, “Oh, my God! His jacket hasn’t pressed because we have been outside in New York all day long!” Then he’s sitting in the interview chair. Jimmy Fallon interviewed him; and Bill was Mr. Cool!

Bill:  Well…

Susan:  Well, you are.

Bill;  I did to The Tonight Show when Jack Parr was doing it which was a looooooong time ago. In the late 50s probably. And I did “The Johnny Carson Tonight Show” a couple of times.

Susan:  And I did “The Johnny Carson Tonight Show” when Johnny was on vacation. They were kind of throwing a bone out to the soap opera people.

Bill:  It was quite a thrilling moment.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF HAVING YOUR OWN DAYS OF OUR LIVES EMOJI

Bill:  Ours is the best!  The picture of us is the best.

Susan:  We love our picture.  We really do, even if it is listed with the props.  Deidre’s levitating; and under that is us.

Bill:  Whatever.  It’s a thrill; it’s wonderful.  To have your own emoji?  It’s fabulous.

HAVE YOU ACTUALLY USED YOUR EMOJI?

Susan:  Billy sent it to me, saying “To my darling wife, with love”.

Bill:  It’s Doug and Julie, but it’s also Bill and Susan.

HOW AWESOME IS IT THAT “DOUG’S PLACE” IS COMING BACK TO SALEM?

Susan:  I was thrilled today meeting the hundreds of fans who come to Day of DAYS, saying that they were grateful that “Doug’s Place” was back.  So it wasn’t just something that we liked because we got to play around in it but apparently the fans enjoyed it once upon a time too.

Bill:  We did have for a dozen years the real “Doug’s Place” with music all the time.

Susan:  Gloria Loring and Robert Clary.

Bill:  We see Robert Clary every week; and we just saw Patty Weaver recently who played Trish Clayton.  The music was a huge part of the show for a long time.
